The Central Peripheral Road (CPR) project will be given to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), with Huda failing to create 3.2km stretch despite acquiring 102 acres of land for Rs 700 core around six months ago.
A senior NHAI official said the CPR will be constructed along with the remaining part of the N. Peripheral Road (NPR), also known as Dwarka highway. The project head of NHAI said that they are in the procedure of preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for the construction of Dwarka expressway and we consider CPR as part of the expressway. This will creates a easy connectivity to the Realestate in Gurgaon.
The 27km-long Dwarka expressway -- 18km in Gurgaon and 9km in Delhi -- begins from Rangpuri in the national capital and ceases at Kherki Daula small town on NH-8 in Gurgaon. Out of the 18km stretch in Gurgaon, Huda has completed construction of 14. 5km but the remaining portion is unfinished due to the hold up in the rehabilitation of oustees. However, NHAI has already started the land purchase for the Delhi section of Dwarka expressway.
A senior official in government commented that Dwarka expressway has been announced as a national Highway and they have no objection over the road to NHAI. CPR was recommended to hook up NPR with the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), so we have no objection if NHAI construct this road. Huda is already facing a cash crunch and it might be better if NHAI constructs and maintains CPR as well. He additionally mentioned that Huda will soon hand over the land acquired for the CPR project to NHAI.
The finishing CPR -- which will connect Dwarka expressway with SPR and NH-8 -- will significantly reduce the traffic weight on the  projects in Gurgaon stretch out of NH-8 and will ensure smooth flow of traffic from NH-8 to NPR, NPR to SPR and vice versa.
The road will also reduce the traffic load on NH-8, particularly near Kherki Daula, as vehicles from the Delhi side through NPR will be able to go directly towards Faridabad or Sohna Road through SPR, avoiding the highway. At present, all vehicles that pass through Gurgaon or go everywhere in the metropolis is required to use NH-8, leading to traffic jams in most parts. This will surely be a boon for all of them. With additional presence of road link in the city will benefit the Real Estate developers in Gurgaon.
